About
resellflip is a tool for buying and reselling second-hand goods: price estimates, listing copy, margin and stock-turnover tracking. What follows describes how it is made, and what it will not do.
Who publishes this site
Yvan L., founder. He edits the site and builds the tool. The writing rule below is his: publish nothing you cannot keep true.
The writing rule
No invented prices. No approximate fee percentages. No market figures we cannot measure. It is the rule that governs the site’s guides, and it binds harder than it sounds.
It stops us writing “a puffer from this brand resells for €40 to €70”, a sentence you find everywhere and that almost nobody can back up. It also stops us printing an eBay commission rate, because it will change without us knowing.
The cost is real: our pages are less spectacular than the ones lining up price ranges. So is the benefit — they stay true.
What the tool refuses to do
- Post for you. No platform offers a public posting API; working around that exposes your account to suspension. The reasoning, in French.
- Answer when it does not know. Below two distinct sellers, the estimate reports low confidence instead of inventing a number.
- Sell your data. No identity, no email, no photos. The model is the subscription, and there is no second one.
- Show manufactured reviews. The reviews page is empty, and it stays empty until there are real ones.
How the corpus is built
Estimates rest on users’ closed sales, anonymised: yours feed other people’s, as theirs feed yours. It is a commons, and that has a direct consequence — on categories still thinly represented, the confidence shown will be low, and we say so rather than hide it.
Your own sales are the exception to that rule, and it is what makes the tool usable outside France: they are always returned to you, without waiting for a second seller. Import your selling history and your estimates fit your own market from day one, whatever our corpus does or does not cover.
How the data is handled is set out in the privacy policy, which is in French. Hosting is European.
How the guides are written
Every guide starts from a real reseller’s question and stops when it has been answered. There is no target length: some pages run a few hundred words because the subject asks for no more, and padding would only dilute.
Systematically avoided: lists of items “that make money” with price ranges attached, fee percentages copied from another site, and income promises. Those three formats are the most profitable for a publisher living off affiliate revenue, and they are exactly the ones that make people buy badly.
Preferred instead: criteria rather than lists. Knowing how to recognise a piece that resells well stays true when trends change; a list of thirty objects does not survive a season.
Worth saying plainly: those guides are in French and stay in French. They deal with vide-greniers, brocantes, Leboncoin and French tax filing — translating them would not be translating, it would be rewriting them into a different market. The tool, the calculators and these pages are what exists in English.
What is measured and what is asserted
The distinction governs the whole site, and it is easy to check. What is measured comes from the corpus of closed sales: the estimate ranges, the confidence levels, the comparables you can open. What is asserted is method: how to look for a comparable, which criteria move a price, in what order to escalate after a dispute.
Between the two there is nothing — and above all no figures presented as measured when they were estimated. The day the corpus lets us publish real turnover times by category, it will be written as such, with what the calculation rests on.
The publisher
resellflip is published in France by a micro-entreprise. No VAT is charged, under article 293 B of the French tax code. The publisher’s full details, the host and the publication director are listed in the legal notice, which is in French and written to French law.
